Art, Music and the Spiritual Path

November 14, 2015        7:30PM - 9:00PM

The Whole Woman Center   418 Central Avenue SE,  Albuquerque, NM

$15

An interactive Workshop/Meditation guided by esoteric teacher Sabine Frohlich, featuring live musical performance by violist Jennie Hansen. We will explore a new mode of self-expression, with art journaling. This is not a creative writing class - it is a meditative voyage.  Art can be a mirror for our spiritual journey, and writing from our inner world can distill the process of seeing more deeply. We will showcase the music of J.S. Bach and other great composers, paired with selected European paintings, to create a sacred space in which to explore a new way to look at art, drawing on the tradition of the Sufi Sama ceremony. You can choose to write your realizations as you listen, or simply be still and absorb the impressions as they unfold. This event will be preceded by a short reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres, and followed by a brief Q&A/Discussion.

About Sabine Frohlich:

Sabine Frohlich has studied and taught esoteric ideas for over two decades. A student of the late Irish philosopher Mervyn Brady, she has traveled word- wide giving public lectures and supporting philosophical groups in cities such as Capetown, South Africa; Mexico City and Cancun;  London, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. In conjunction with the Los Angeles Center of the Academy of European Arts and Culture, Sabine is currently directing a series of Art Meet-ups to introduce a new way of looking at art by absorbing it through the perspective of the soul. Her focus is on the European inheritance of Hine art, and she incorporates an in- depth understanding of the Fourth Way school of esoteric knowledge into her presentations, inspiring others to approach art more intentionally through “art journalling.” Sabine is in the process of compiling a book of her observations on art, which will incorporate her experiences during these presentations, and commentary from those attending.

About Jennie Hansen:

Jennie Hansen is an international performer on viola, and viola d'amore, and has appeared with such chamber groups as Music-from- Marlboro, The Waverly Consort, St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, and the Group for Contemporary Music String Quartet. She has performed chamber music in the Jascha Heifetz Master Class, and was the recipient of the Berry Award at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition. As a soloist Jennie has made recordings as diverse as Bach with the Smithsonian Chamber Players, LoefHler with the Indianapolis Symphony and Jazz with the WDR in Cologne.

An active Hollywood studio musician, Jennie has also been President of the Southern California Viola Society. She holds a position as Symphonic Research Associate at the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, and is co-director of the Los Angeles School of the Academy of European Arts and Culture.
